During high school a mentor, who believed in me and focused upon my strengths, had a tremendous impact on my direction in life. I do this for a living because I want to advocate for and support others in a similar manner.

When I was younger there were times when I was lost and trapped amidst depression and fear, with a lack of direction and substance use as an irresponsible and poor means to cope. To compound the matter, a devastating injury disbanded my central healthy coping skill of participating in sports.

Developing direction, goals, passion, productive coping skills, self-care, and emotional regulation changes lives. I’ve experienced these changes myself and I’m here to help others work toward such positive directions for themselves.

My Approach

I take an integrative approach to counseling by utilizing multiple theoretical models to best fit an individual’s goals and needs. This approach emerged from my formal instruction in cognitive psychology and educational psychology, my experience working in the therapeutic field, as well as my desire to aid people in making positive changes in their lives.

In this process creating a respectful and caring relationship, utilizing empathy and understanding, and engaging in the learning process side-by-side with a client is important. Transparency and genuine interaction are also imperative in my approach.
